Anuradhapura, a Ceylonese political and religious capital that flourished for 1,300 years, was abandoned after an invasion in 993. Hidden away in dense jungle for many years, the splendid site, with its palaces, monasteries and monuments, is now accessible once again.

Polonnaruwa, Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993. It comprises, besides the Brahmanic monuments built by the Cholas, the monumental ruins of the fabulous garden-city created by Parakramabahu I in the 12th century.

Sigiriya, Sigiriya was built by the fifth-century king Kashyapa I, who ruled the native Sinhalese dynasty, the Moriya. The imposing fortress was the capital of the Sinhalese kingdom until Kashyapa was defeated in A.D. 495. (Watch: An ancient palatial fortress overlooks this barren desert in Israel.

Dambulla, Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings.

Kandy, This sacred Buddhist site, popularly known as the city of Senkadagalapura, was the last capital of the Sinhala kings whose patronage enabled the Dinahala culture to flourish for more than 2,500 years until the occupation of Sri Lanka by the British in 1815.

Nuwara Eliya ,Surrounded by hills and mountains Nuwara Eliya is a valley nestling among them. Originally there were no trees and it was a Patana. Famous for its cool English climate and rich soil which helps in the tea plantations, Nuwara Eliya has many water falls and streams and boasts of rare fauna and flora.

Udawalawe, Udawalawe National Park is a national park on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces in Sri Lanka. The park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River, as well as to protect the catchment of the reservoir.

Ratnapura , Ratnapura is the provincial capital city of Sabaragamuwa Province. Ratnapura in Sinhala means “The Gem City” as it is famous for its gem industry. Kalu River which is one of the four main rivers in Sri Lanka flows across the municipal council area.

Itinerary

Meet and greet on arrival by our Tour East representative and transfer to Colombo. Check in at hotel. In the afternoon proceed to a City Tour of Colombo. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast and leave for Polonnaruwa the second capital of Sri Lanka in the 11th and 12th centuries. Visit the Lankatilleke, Thuparama and Gal Vihare and also see the remains of the Royal Palace and ParakramaSamudra a huge man made water reservoir. Continue to Sigiriya or Habarana and check in at your selected hotel for overnight stay.

After breakfast at hotel, enjoy a climb up the Sigiriya Rock Fortress where you will find the remains of the Palace and its environs. Enroute to Kandy, explore the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple followed by a stop at the Spice Garden in Matale. Check in at the hotel upon arrival at Kandy. In the afternoon visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and watch a Kandyan Cultural Dance performance.

Breakfast at Hotel and take the Upper Lake Drive and then visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya. Then visit a Tea Plantation and see women plucking the ‘Green Gold’ tea leaves and a factory whilst en route to Nuwara Eliya. Late afternoon travel to Little England. Overnight stay at your selected hotel in NuwaraEliya.

Take your Breakfast at hotel and depart to Udawalawe via Ella. Check in at your selected hotel. Afternoon visit to Udawalawe National park by jeep. See a vast array of animals including deer, peacock, elephant, wild buffalo and the lucky visitors may get to see a leopard or bear. Overnight stay at your hotel in Udawalawe

Breakfast and proceed to Colombo. En-route visit “Alhathurusevana” the Elephant Transit Home for caring and bringing up baby elephants found abandoned in the wild until released back to the forest. Also visit a Gem Mine at Ratnapura (time permitting). Return to Colombo or transfer to Airport or drop off at Beach Extension Hotel of your choice.

5.Dambulla has a tropical climate abundant with rainfall, which is heavy from April through January and the temperature is more or less consistent between 30°C-34°C at a maximum and 15°C-17°C on the lower side, for the most part of the year. Dambulla’s characterized mostly by two seasons: summer and monsoons.
